fuzzy bugs
I periodically find these long fuzzy bugs in my bstone. They are mostly in the finished basement (which is pretty dry and cool) , but sometimes upstairs. They are about 3/4 of an inch long and surrounded by tons of little hair-like legs. I have only seen one bug at a time, and sometimes weeks…
I periodically find these long fuzzy bugs in my bstone. They are mostly in the finished basement (which is pretty dry and cool) , but sometimes upstairs. They are about 3/4 of an inch long and surrounded by tons of little hair-like legs. I have only seen one bug at a time, and sometimes weeks will go by before seeing another one. I have no idea what these bugs are or how to get rid of them. Can anyone identify them from that description and offer advice on how to get rid of them. Note that we are not fans of chemical insecticides.
Thanks very much.
Sounds like you’ve got a case of the Heebie-Geebies. Rinse, lather, repeat.
wonderful with garlic and olive oil
I call them “Brooklyn Bugs” I have had them in every house I ever lived in here.
you’re right. I realize that I’ve been calling “House Centipedes” silverfish. You learn something new everyday 🙂
centipedes have at least 15 legs, silverfish 6 and a couple of anteneae. It sounds like centipedes. You can spray for them.
sounds like “silverfish”. Exterminator can take care of them.
I avoid killing centipedes AND spiders because they help control creatures that are even yuckier.
house centipedes will eat your cockroaches. once you get over the creepy-crawliness, you will be very happy to have them. my last apt had them and i never had any other insect problem (and i’m a slob). my new place came with roaches and ants, now i’m trying to figure out how to breed house centipedes!
Original Poster here. Thanks for all the helpful responses. They are house centipedes. Now if I can just eliminate them and keep spiders and cockroaches out. Hmmm.
