NY Circular: 1 long run. $1800
We took care of the landings and support. He also made a bunch of spindles for us (40-50??). That was $900 extra.
Work done by NY Fine Circular stairs for 3 long runs and 3 landings:
-new red oak treads, risers, bullnoses and trim
-spraypainted spindles offsite
-leveled and reinforced all steps and banister
Total: $11K
Silent beautiful staircase: priceless
Heightswoodworking just finished my stairs
last week — 3 landings + 2 long runs.
They replace and level treads, new risers,
new bullnose, reinforce as needed, etc. Of all
the contractors I’ve dealt with on my reno,
heights delivered on time and did a spectacular
job.
Approx cost per step is $300. Total cost for
mine was $14K. I can only justify the cost
because the staircase is a focal point of the
house.
PS I took the trouble of removing all of my
spindles and had them dip-stripped down the
jersey shore (http://www.centralrefinishing.com/ very cheap: $8 each where it’s dble
or triple here). Under many layers of paint was
mahongany that we will now varnish. So in addition
to new oak treads we effectively have all new mahogany spindles.
could the above posters quote the amount of steps done and the price?
>>>>try Aomr at Heights Woodworking 411 3rd Ave. They replaced my treads and risers and stripped and re-installed my spindles and hand rails. New stairs…..Soxco, restore stairs….Heights Wood. I know….I used both!
Yes, you did yente!! I third Bill! (nice guy, good work and cheaper than soxco). Good luck!
We just had our stairs rebuilt by Bill at NY Fine Circular stairs. We were thoroughly pleased and cannot recommend them highly enough. The price was very reasonable and they finished the job very quickly.
For Interior staircases, the place to use is Soxco. The name of the owner is Anton, I believe. they replace all wood staircases and refit banisters with spindles to the new stairs. they are really good.
Hello 4:12, can you tell us about what Heights is charging for the work? They came to my house and spent about an hour measuring and writing and making notes and then I never got an estimate, after calling them back for about 3 months I finally gave up. Thanks for any info
