  1. i had a guy working for me from ireland he plastered my house to an v high standerd
and did decorative work externally would recommend strongly, his number is 07804192302
i think adam was his name

  2. I have a very large 1906 Tudor in Westchester. 12 years ago I did restoration of walls and ceilings in many of my rooms. When properly done, restoration must include repairs to old plasterwork. Screen mesh must be applied to all walls and ceiling to avoid future cracking. As of yet I have no cracks anywhere.
Do not plaster over old cracks. If you do not correct problems beneath, cracks will reoccur.
All my plaster restoration work in the last 12 years was done by a Russian man that explained this all to me. I recently used him again in my brown stone rental in Brooklyn. His name is Alexander and his number is (201) 2482861.

  3. I am currently pricing out skim coating, and was wondering in what range people have had estimates.

Also – our walls have minor cracks, is it neccesary to mesh the walls?

  6. Hi, Carrie.

Regarding your comment that it isn’t unusual for plaster to crack after a year and a half: We were assured that it would last AT LEAST five or six years due to Prosser’s using mesh and screws and all that. In fact, he told us that if we were to see a crack before then that he would come back and fix it gratis. Unfortunately, my dislike of him is such that the idea of having him back in my home has made me opt for coming to terms with said cracks and even naming them as a way to welcome them into my family.

  9. The master of plaster system I used was a restoration plaster not joint compound. Two coats of the base one coat of finish and the walls are smooth as glass. No sanding you smooth with a trowell and a spray bottle with water.www.masterofplaster.com the company that makes the plaster is way upstate but has a local distributer.
