Now that the snow and ice are slowly melting, my steps are being
fully revealed and it ain’t pretty. I have several cracks which used to be hairline cracks in the brownstone step platform which seem to be worsening. I would like to repair these cracks at minimal expense and maximum prevention value. I am really looking for something that I can do myself. Can anyone share any info on masonry repair or direct me to literature on how to do it?

Thank you very much. Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

  1. My stoop was completely rebuilt about 5 years ago and this winter has started to show the first signs of deterioration. But it’s not brownstone (which the article cited above is about), it only looks like it. Really it’s just concrete — which 90% of facades and stoops are these days because of years of repair and replacement. So what’s the advice for repairing concrete?
