I’ve left messages with three electricians and can’t get a single one to return my calls. Two of them were ones recommended on this site–Laredo Electric and Paul Laidlaw. The other came from the Brooklyn Paper. The job isn’t huge, but it isn’t small either, probably a half dozen things including installing fixtures and running new boxes. Are electricians that busy? I even called on a second time and still no response.

  1. I just had a Christopher John Electric out to our apartment for a consultation. I found them in the Brooklyn Paper. Considering they have someone in the office who takes calls and was able to schedule someone in the area to come later in the afternoon was great. Seemed knowledgeable and I’m awaiting an estimate. http://www.cjohnelectrical.com/. I can’t speak to the quality of work, but if the professionalism is a criteria I recommend them.

  2. I have had amazing luck recently with Phong Electrical–their number is on the park slope parents site. They have come the same day I called them, worked quickly and were reasonably priced.

  3. Did you call Laredo at 718-227-6607? I used them and never had that problem. When I call, I usually talk to a lady there. She seems to answer all the time when I call during the day.

  4. You can try Desmond Electric. I’ve worked with them. I think they do fine work and they’re priced well. They always show up and answer calls.

  5. i had the same thing with Paul, i thought he was ignoring me, but then he called back and came out for the job. seems like a straight-shooter.

  6. I sometimes don’t get a response from Paul Laidlaw, but when that happens I just call again. Funny enough, one of his guys was just here at our house today. Laidlaw is a busy guy with a busy crew, for good reason. They’re meticulous and polite and do good work. Keep trying him.
