Aesthetic Chimney repair -crumbling brick

I have just opened up the walls in my new place to discover two red-brick chimneys. They are non-functional, but are in terrible condition. I just want to expose the brick and clean them up. Has anyone done this or can recommend someone who fixes up chimneys for aesthetic appeal? Thanks!
