Where’s the best/cheapest/most reliable store to get appliances?
PC RIchard? Drimmer’s? Drimmer’s? A New Jersey outfit in order to save tax? I’m about to plunk down some serious change on several new applainces, and don’t want to get burned with bad/unreliable service, and want to spend as little as I can, without being penny wise/pound foolish.

Thanks!

  1. I love J&R and have bought an entire house full of appliances there. Just give Ralph the model number and the price you’ve seen it selling for and almost always he’ll beat that price. Free delivery too. 718-638-3040.

  2. I had a wonderful experience with PC Richard in Astoria. I got excellent prices and because of some problems with my kitchen renovation, I couldn’t take delivery right away – they were very accomodating. Ask for Mohammed who has an encyclopedic knowledge of brands, products, and who was enormously helpful.

  3. The J&R is not in any way related to J&R on Park Row. It is a very small family owned business that has been operating in Park Slope for as long as i can remember. Ralph is great.

  4. I tried all the above places mentioned and EBA Wholesale in Bklyn beat them all price wise. CONTACT TOM 718-253-4700 EXT 136 , he was my contact and priced out all the items I needed accordingly…I actually purchased my SubZero from them as they beat Drimmers price by a ridiculous amount!

    Good Luck,

  5. All the stores have flexibility on price, and I think there is greater flexibility the higher end you go.

I suggest you decide on which specific products you want and send a list of them to several stores asking them for their best pricing. You can do this all by fax and then compare the results at your leisure. Be sure that they include delivery and hook-up charges so that you can get the full cost picture.

Another store to consider is Bloom & Krupp on 14th St. & 1st Ave. in Manhattan. As for PC Richards, I had a good experience with their appliance guy at their Upper West Side store, he was very knowledgeable and nice.

    Good luck.

  6. PC Richards had the best prices for the stuff i was looking for (range, W/D) and i thought the service was fine. free delivery too, tho i had to do the install. then again, i did hit the place during a big sale.
