Poorly Insulated Sky Light
I have two skylights that my top floor tenants have been complaining are letting in cold draft. As we are finally getting into the heart of the cold season, is there a tempoary fix to the draft problem? Perhahs some form of covering for the skylight? Or would replacing it be best?

I HAVE AN OLD DRAFTY CHICKENWIRE VENTED SKYLIGHT AS WELL AND ITS GETS REALLY COLD ON TH TOP FLOOR AS WELL BECAUSE OF IT. ITS BASICALLY LIKE HAVING YOUR WINDOWS WIDE OPEN IN THE DEAD OF WINTER…WE TRIED COVERING IT WITH A CLEAR TARP WHICH HELPS A BIT, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS I’D LIKE. THINKING ABOUT GETTING ONE OF THOSE BUBBLE SKYLIGHTS OR SOMETHING MORE MODERN THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY CLOSE (STOP THE VENTING) IN THE COLD WEATHER MONTHS. ANYONE HAVE ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS?
Is the glass ornate at all? They get a draft because the air under your roof is venting out the skylight by design. This is necessary to prevent mold and condensation in under your roof. My best suggestion if you want to keep the glass and light is put another layer of glass or perhaps two to create a more insulated window.
