During some reno work, a round marble table top was accidentally broken. The table belongs to my wife’s 90-year-old grandmother (who lives with us.) She dislikes change, especially of the negative variety, so I want to replace it as soon as possible. It’s white marble, about 24 inches in diameter, and it just rests on the base. Not an antique, but still a very nice table. Recommendations for where I might replace the top and what I can expect to pay?

  1. There are a bunch of marble places in Greenpoint. We’ve had pieces trimmed and also I wouldn’t doubt if you could negotiate a deal with them.

    Try Barone Marble.

  2. Assuming it can’t be repaired, take the pieces to a stone dealer/fabricator (Foro on 3rd Street or any one of many others). They can try to match the material. White marble can be any one of several varieties. They should be able to fabricate a replacement in no time. It probably won’t match exactly but it should be too expensive. I’d say about $200-$300 depending on the material.
