Has anyone used Mega Glass, on Fifth Avenue and Bergen, to replace their windows? If so, how was the experience? And has anyone used Trimline windows? If so, how are they for heat efficiency, workability, etc? And what about getting Landmarks approval for them? Thanks for any thoughts.

  1. We used Trimlines for the front of our house (not on a landmarked block) and we are very happy with them. Great product, great price. We also used Lucky Windows for the installation.

  3. I used mega glass for some windows in my house. Make sure you get everything in writing before you start work of course. I had to replace my top floor rotted wooden windows from about 80 years ago. I installed thermal pane wooden framed windows (built by millworks) and was not completely impressed wiht the quality of the installation. Freddy was very helpfull but I felt the workers didn’t really know much about windows and didn’t communicate bits of informtion to me such as the fact that the track inside would be a cream colored vinyl instead of black. They also didn’t tell me windows would not have sash lifts or window locks (which are extra) until after they were done installing. At one point, Freddy’s nephew (who does the install) tried to tell me that the screen insert holder around the bottom window frame was to keep out drafts and not for screen inserts. I should have known the hands on experience was lacking at that moment for him. They also took a giant splinter out of one window. However, i had them discount the window instead of waiting 4-6 weeks in the middle of the winter to replace it. All in all the eperiencce was so-so. It coulda been better for the 6k i spent….even if it was cheaper than Bay Ride or Easy-Tilt.

  4. I used Trimline wood windows for all my non-street facing windows. I purchased them from LWP on 3rd Avenue. I’m very happy with the product as well as the professional installation and at about$600/per for 3′ x 6′ windows much more competitive than MArvins or Pellas.

  5. Although I haven’t replaced my windows- Freddie at Mega glass supplies all the glass for the doors I make. He is very fair and reliable. He has over 30 years experience and won’t try to sell you something that you do not need.
