I have an old Chambers Stove. Recently did a silly thing and removed a wire that was in fact the temperature probe for the internal controls. I am sick about it as this stove has been such a durable part of my family for years. Does anyone know of any repair companies that actually could help out – even with parts if needed?

Thanks!!!

  1. Belgrove Appliance, Inc. located in Westchester, NY sells, repairs, and restores Chambers stoves. They also provide services to your Chambers range other than restoration, such as cleaning (in your home), partial restoration, and parts replacement.

They are the only company in New York that I know of that repairs Chambers ranges, sells Chambers ranges, and restores Chambers ranges. They also sell and repair new modern day appliances. Most importantly they will travel (for a fee) to locations that are hours away from the workshop, just because they know people don’t have access to anyone else who is qualified.

They have a classifieds listing on both of their websites, http://www.belgroveappliance.com and http://www.stovelady.com where you can post your appliances for sale, or purchase one of their appliances.

Oh I forgot, the company is owned and operated by a woman who does more than 90% of the work herself! She is big on customer service, customer satisfaction, and gets most of her business through referrals and repeat business. She took over a regular used appliance business from her late father and turned it into a full service new appliance sales and repair company that specializes in antique stove sales, repair, and restoration. She is college educated, and the quality and work ethic she maintains is unbelievable.

She will even answer your questions via email and/or phone for free, but I think email is better since she is only one person. Contact her through her website.

I think she buys/collects the ranges too, but contact her to be sure. She handles other manufacturers too.

I hope this was helpful. She really helped me and was a pleasure to deal with, unlike most appliance repairmen who don’t even smile, much less talk in language you can understand. I never hugged an appliance repair person before, but she was so pleasant, jovial, and caring. Good luck!

Tell her another happy customer from Brownstoner sent her.

  2. I’ve got a 50′ white Chambers (Model A or C or 90C..?) with a folding back cover and a well and pop up broiler/griddle to sell
and would love it to go to a good home. I live in Lebanon, N.H. and would respond to any offers with a return email and pic. Thanks,

  3. I have a Chambers Model C which has been in the family since the early 60’s in constant use. Lately have been having trouble with the oven door not wanting to stay closed while being used.I think it has warped because of use or it needs to be readjusted to close evenly. Has anyone encountered this problem and is there a solution?

PS- Ken. I have the same situation with my broiler.

  4. While cleaning the broiler tray on our Chambers tonight I guess I pressed too hard and felt something give. Now the control that raises and lowers the broiler tray (adjusts distance from broiler flame) does not work. I fixed this once before about six years ago but for the life of me can’t figure it out. The handle turns sort of a notched cam and it looks like a sort of elbow joint should rest on the cam so that when the handle is turned it raises or lowers the tray.
    Any suggestions?

  5. I have a model C Chambers stove (1950’s) The thermostat for the oven is malfunctioning. I’m ordering a rebuilt thermostat from the Old appliance Shop for $295 – 2 year warrantee. I’m having trouble finding someone familiar with Chambers to take out the old one (it doesn’t have to be taken apart) and put in the new one. The company in Yonkers would charge $250 to come down to Monmouth County New Jersey. Does anyone know of someone I can call – my email address is lwollman@brookdalecc.edu. Thanks

  6. I have one of the lst versions (1987) of the Chambers gas cooktops and Imperial Majesty gas wall oven.

Everything works great and the retained heat features are fabulous. However, I need to get new control knobs for the cooktop and a new gas valve for one burner.
Places for antique Chambers stoves abound but my gal is at an awkward age -not vintage yet but too old for replacement parts to be around. Any ideas?

  7. Hey Anon 2:15 – Yes you can research to buy a Chambers stove through the sites However, you’re best bet is Craigs List or Ebay. I bought mine in Wilton CT through Craigs but I have seen them here in Brooklyn posted too. They are fantastic stoves, but not easy to move, but well worth the trouble. The only trouble I had was that I had to convert my stove hardware from propane to natural gas. I didn’t imagine Wilton was in the sticks!
