We received in the mail a semi-official looking notice from the “National Residential Improvement Association” announcing a project called NY5-06 which “qualifies us for Sponsor pledged, NRIA certified discount rates for…siding, trim, replacement windows, exterior doors, etc. I looked their website up and didn’t get enough info…

Does anybody know anything about this?? Did you get a notice??

  1. On the back, the card says go to NRIA.org.

They have a nice website set up with government links and other links.
I’d say just another contracter VERY shrewdly pursuing clients/customers, including making them aware of the various ways they may be able to finance home improvement ventures.

  3. Wow, I received one this morning and just googled to see if it’s official.

I thnk I’ll call HUD or go the site and email asking about it.

  5. Although this sounds totally “scammish”, if you’re
in a landmarked district, check to see if it’s
also on the National Historic Register. If so
you may qualify for some tax credits on any
    bldg. rehabilitation you do.

  6. Read carefully, You’ll see that the notice states that NRIA is not affiliated with any federal, state, or government program or agency (paraphrase). Separately, I also received what looked like an official IRS refund “check” (NOT!!). Run to your shredder…

  7. NRIA- building mfrs trade group. Might just be one guy.

sponsor pledged certified discount rates — means you are getting taken to the cleaners (i.e. not professional rate)
NY5-06 — saves printing costs because they can use the cards for 2 years.
