Best to attach the fencing to a premolded concrete base so the fencing doesn’t move easily when bumped by car doors. This costs more, but is worth it in the long run. Tree roots should be cut back by a qualified tree person. Tree roots can push up almost any tree guard–and adjacent sidewalks–over the years.
