Knockout Renovations?
Does anyone have any experience using Knockout Renovations (Keith Steier)? My wife and I are considering using them for a recently purchased limestone that needs extensive renovation\restoration. Any thoughts/experiences are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello everyone,
As the owner of Knockout, I’d be happy to show you dozens of reference letters from many very happy clients. Over the years, we’ve developed a great system for clients. Our name is more directed towards beautiful remodels. We’ve been in business since 1992 and all we do is residential interiors, including kitchens and bathrooms. As an all in one design, products and remodeling service we make remodeling easier. Our clients are typically busy homeowners who don’t have alot of time or remodeling experience. As for cost, most of our references say that we were somewhere in the middle of their estimates.
Thanks,
Keith Steier
I am using a reasonably priced contractor who is honest and capable but I have to say the same thing. I am here every day because I found that if I wasn’t things could go in the wrong direction. Maybe for the top priced guys, you don’t have to, but I have to do this as cheaply as possible and as well as possible. That means being here every day and looking at everything.
10:36 AM,
In a perfect world your right. Unfortunately, when you hire “reasonably priced” contractors you often have to closely supervise them. I’m in the business and have supervised dozens of renovations.
Of course, if you don’t have time to stop by the jobsite every few days and check things out, you might want to pay your architect to do it for you or hire an extremely professional contruction company (I’ve never done this because I like saving money and getting a good deal).
I take issue with Anon 7:27’s comment. Yes, you (or your architect/PM) should frequently walk the job, but a reputable contractor will not deviate from the plans and standards. If the architect missed something in the drawing, if a field condition requires a change, if they have an alternative suggestion, they will first discuss the issue with the architect/client and get approval for a change. I’ve done numerous residential and commercial renos and this is the standard for top quality construction. If Anon’s experience with Knockout was that the client had to watch them in order to make sure the job was being done to specs, then are not the kind of company you should have to deal with, especially for an extensive renovation.
We used Knockout Renovation several years ago for a big reno. Keith is a good guy. As with any contracting company, make sure you’re there at least every other day to make sure everything is being done according to the architectural plans and your standards.
I can’t speak for them, but witnessed a terrific renovation a week ago from a company called RedPes. I attended an open house party to view a recently reno’d property of theirs. See the link below to the property..I don’t have their info on hand, but if interested email me and I’ll locate the business card with the contact detail (jdylan3@yahoo.com)

Alan-love your reno. Could you share cost of kitchen ?
Sorry, I don’t know anyone who has used them. You should ask them for a list of references and to visit some of their projects if you are interested in proceeding with them. I can highly recommend Greg at Ambiance (917) 907-1100 for high-end renos. Good luck with your new home.
