I have what appears to be a hairline leak that runs the entire width of the top step of my stoop where the stoop attaches to the building. There is also a crack in the masonry underneath the stoop that is clearly related to the leak. On one side of the wall underneath the stoop, water stains are visible … not a good sign at all. Except for this problem, the stoop is in excellent condition.
Does anyone have/had or know someone who has or have experienced this? If so, kindly provide some guidance regarding what the choices and alternatives are to fix the problem, recommendations for dependable, trustworthy, and reasonable individuals for the job, cost estimates, etc. etc. I am a single woman, totally clueless about this stuff and need reliable and useful information. Many thanks for your help.
No. Haven’t tried it yet. Received some other recomendations that had me wondering whether I wanted a short ($$$) or long ($$$$$) term fix. Long term is clearly the better option but I don’t have the $$$$$ now. With all the horror stories about contractors, might just let my out of state GC brother fix it. Sounds like a simple enough job but, at least it’ll be done by someone I trust and who won’t try to “create” additional work for themselves.
Any luck?
Cut up a straight line right were the crack is,chisel away all loose stuff, fill in the gap with new concrete, and patch the brownstone line as well. Done deal.:)
