Good Afternoon. I am sure there have been other posts like this, but I can’t seem to locate them!
My partner and I are renters. Our landlord is out of state and we have had bad experiences with handymen he has contracted with in the past. This month, we have decided to take over the management of all repairs that are necessary for the apartment.
We are looking for a reliable, budget concious, gay-friendly handyman or handywoman (female preferred considering past experiences) to do some plumbing, plastering, roof and basic electric repairs.
ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ARE APPRECIATED! Thanks!
Ahh… Thanks tinarina, well at least we know the Joe I mentioned is not Joe of Joe’s Handy Man Services. I would like to reiterate my support of Joe RENO and offer anyone to come see the work he did on our two houses…there was no cutting corners or shoddy looking work.
Good luck to everyone!
I got a quote from Joe (Joe’s Handy Man Services on his card) at the phone # that Lisa listed. He’s a very sweet and earnest kid but he had photos of prior jobs which were not impressive (definitely shoddy looking), and his estimate for a range of small tasks struck me as way too low.
Everyone likes a good price, but I realized in order for him to do what he said he was going to do, he’d be paying his guys pocket change (he makes it clear he has a crew and he supervises)and/or cutting corners. I did not hire him.
He probably wants joe to do some plumbing to, does anyone know a good pedofile frendly carpenter.
9:15pm….good one!!
Sounds like Joe’s been busy… does he go both ways?
Yes, anon, 2:01 – I don’t know who you are talking about, but you are welcome to come to my house and look at the work he did – it’s a long list. Why don’t you post your name and/or contact info? If it’s the same guy, sorry your experience was bad – mine was great.
Are we all taking about the same Joe?? I’m talking about Joe Reno. Lisa? Anon? The number listed by Lisa below my post is not the number of the Joe I’m recommending and the descriptor of “hack” seems really incongruent with our guy… But if it is the same Joe I would really like to know so that I don’t recommend so highly… Thanks!
Amy
I’ll spend more for high quality and I’m not gay. I think gay friendly probably means someone who will come into your home and not make you feel threatened because they are openly hostile to gays. The bad experiences with the handy men from the owners might have been personal.
My gay clientele are willing to spend more for higher quality. Anon @ 2:24 needs to come out of their closet.
