I know that Union Street is a two way street with a bus line going through it. Is it as loud as it seems? I was once going to an open house on Union Street betw 7th and 8th avenue and the cars were honking non-stop because of congested traffic. How loud is it from inside of the house?
I have lived on the corner of 8th and Union for 6 years. In general it really is not very loud. There are peak times on weekdays as well as weekends. In terms of the firehouse, it is not excessive. That said, I used to live on the first floor of my current building and it was much louder than my current apartment on the 4th floor.
It is a perfect location > one block to park, 4 blocks to 2/3 N/R, 7 blocks to the Q and 10 blocks to the F.
Also, great to walk to all other neighborhoods.
I lived overlooking Union Street – 47 Plaza Street – on a low floor…I had to sell because of the noise…it is the main emergency route for ambulances and fire trucks too…
To the rude anon 5:25 pm “go back to indiana” moron…yes NYC/brooklyn/slope is noisy but there are degrees of noise…I can’t compare Union Street with FG where I live now…
oh yeah…btw that’s such an a’hole comment in response to someone just looking for some help…wish people like you would get out of brooklyn back to where you belong…
Are YOU telling ME that between PPW and 6th Ave. It’s no good??
OK 3rd st it’s quiet maybe to quiet or even dead.
A good deal It’s a good deal, let’s be realistic. Union st it’s a leaving and breathing Brooklyn street. I think I love it.
But I can’t afford it.
LOL

Some people can tune out noise better than others, so you have to make your own call if it’s too noisey for YOU.
I did a lot of work last year in Union st and was a really nice block, friendly people lots of fun during the weekend, and the noise wasn’t that bad.
There is noise every were, if you have a good deal go for it and GOOD LUCK.
I lived on Union for 3 years (bet 5th and 6th) it is a noisy busy street. There are other streets in Park Slope that are absolutely tranquil compared to Union Street
Union street, because it is located essentially in the city, is very noisy. The bus runs 24/7, the fire department is between 7th and 8th and SFX school yard is right next door.
I hate to be harsh, but you have to be realistic if you want to live in Brooklyn, and Park Slope especially. This is the reality of dense city living. If you don’t like it go back to Indiana
