HELP! My neigbor hangs her ugly laundry(underwear included) on a line about 30Ft high in the air (I move into my house last Sept so I wasn’t dealing too much with my garden),
but now I am trying to figure out what on earth I can do to “soften” my view- her line is only about 8 ft from our property line so it feels like it’s right in my yard. Any ideas???

  1. anon 12:36, you are kidding right? not allowed? in someone’s own backyard, where they can do what ever they want? do you plan on paying their mortgage? insurance? real estate taxes? that comment is absurd. i don’t think people should be able to make such stupid comments, but….

  2. Sounds like the Larry David “Curb Your Enthusiam” episode where his wife wanted a power line buried, which was blocking their backyard view.
    Hilarious.

  3. DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE’ WIND CHIME WARS’ A FEW YEARS BACK IN THE SLOPE? I CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING GARDEN WISE EXCEPT TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION AWAY TOWARDS SOME OTHER FOCAL POINT.

  4. There’s a funny documentary on the ladies in Brooklyn in the 60’s doing their laundry. It’s fun to see, but amazing that us ladies (and now men too I would guess of course!) don’t have to slog through all those hours of wringing out your clothes and putting them on the line.

Wondering if anybody knows if they still make those laundry tower things and where you can get them and who installs them. Would love to have one in our new place if possible!

  5. Tell your neighbor every time she hangs her panties out to dry you can’t get your 13 year old boy out of the rear facing bathroom.

  6. Why is this posters issue so “trival” and “politcal” to everyone, where as where to get high end appliances, or the perfect tile, having fabulous wood detail OK? Yes, people have different asthetics and fortunes, and most of us here are far luckier than many in the world, why is it not ok now?

  7. I am the original poster, and I am not at all trying to pick a fight with anyone- be it my neighbor or you folks on Brownstoner,( but it seems obvious that many of you would like that. ) I was looking for
gardening tips that I might not have thought of to improve a situation that bothers me personally. I would never expect my neighbor to stop hanging out her laudry; which is why I am looking for ideas to make my space more personal- and btw,I don’t need a “welcome” to Brooklyn, I’ve lived here my whole life.
