Ductless AC systems/installers
I’m looking into installing a ductless (or miniduct, or whatever the right term is) AC system to cool the top floor of a three-story building. Can anyone recommend an installer? And can anyone share their experience with particular brands or models?

Does anyone have any experience with having a high-velocity mini duct system installed? Either Unico or Space Pak? I am looking for an installer who has had some experience with brownstones. Thanks
The slims are amazingly silent and I have not noticed much if any vibration.
IN my case, we installed the slims on our outside wall on our parlor floor– pretty amazing actually. When I am in the backyard, unless i look up to see them whirling away, I don’t even know they are on.
Of course, we are not right up next to them. But I get the impression they are amazingly quiet generally.
For those with Mr. Slims, can you let me know if you’ve had a chance to observe the noise and/or vibration levels of the outdoor unit? We are contemplating putting the unit on our roof but want to make sure it won’t interfere with the enjoyment of the roof deck. Thanks.
It really depends. I am doing this off the top of my head but I believe we had a 24k BTU unit for the parlor floor and then a triple heat/cooling unit downstairs that throws 8k BTU per blower downstairs. With all the installation, I believe the full job came to around $17k.
But again, really is dependent on the size of the blowers and the main compressor unit, etc.
Have to say, given how amazingly quiet they are, super happy to say bye-bye to nasty in the window units. Super luxury/expense but worth every penny. Plus we can finally comfortably cool our whole two floors.

what is a ballpark estimate for a Mr. Slim unit w/ installation?
We put in Mr. Slims thru our first and second floors and just love the job we had done. We went thru Mitsubishi and had about 5 contractors come out and do estimates.
By far the best one was Weston Bros. They were not the cheapest, nor the most expensive in the lot, came over and took very precise measurements and pictures, and then did a fabulous job optimally putting in the units, hiding everything nicely, and also have been helpful post install.
Weston Bros are in Queens and their number is (718) 793-2000. I highly recommend them. If you call, ask for Michael Weston and let him know Sunil in Carroll Gardens recommended him.
Some other friends of ours in New Jersey City have a brownstone I think they are going to use him to help put in units as well.
