Brownstone standard Window size
Can anyone help me out and give me the dimensions of the standard size of windows in Brownstones in Brooklyn. Is there even such a thing? Thanks.

Kolbe Windows Looking Pretty Good From Here
We’ve been digging the windows the owner who’s gut reno’d this place on Waverly put in recently. There’s something about them that looks very solid–in contrast to the Pellas we installed in our house last year. The windows are by Kolbe, a manufacturer we haven’t heard much about. Interestingly enough, the owner of the house, whom we met on the street one day, runs a Brooklyn-based window company–we just can’t remember the name–and had great things to say about them. So, experiences with Kolbe?

There can be a normal rule of thumb with Windows in Brownstones Each floor has similar sizes & the windows increase in height from the top floor down With Parlor levels being the largest & most expensive. The biggest issue is the off level & out of plumb sills head & jambs of the old frames. They will not allow for standard units to be installed without creating pizza slice type shims or blocking.
I have installed Sash Kits By Kolbe & Kolbe in my home great company. They will make to any size u need. U can find standard sizes & if only 1/2″ or so different good installer can shim & make them all fit. Typical widths of sash range from 30″ to 40″ depending on the width of your home. Brownstoner did a good review of kolbe this Monday.needs 6 to 8 weeks for delivery
Standard size <> Brownstone
Every window WILL BE slightly different size then the one next to it.
Standard Size–LOL
FWIW no two windows in my 1899 limestone are the same width–not even adjacent windows that appear to match each other. The house was built on spec. and the interior woodwork, etc., while quite beautiful, was ordered from a standardized catalog, so why the windows aren’t standard is a mystery to me.
Sorry, no real ‘standard’ size. Depends on the building and the floor (and sometimes on the window!) plus any changes from the settling of the house over the past 100+ years.
