Joining you in Bay Ridge
After over 20 years in the Slope, we are moving to Bay Ridge ( mid 80s). “Importing” my plumber and electrician but I need some suggestions for local services- carpeting, hardware, locksmith, floor refinisher, closet design etc. Can anyone be my welcome wagon?

I got the food stuff down- thanks guys. Its really the basic services that I care about ( though not sure about the supermarkets!). Locksmith, hardware etc…
and don’t forget, for produce and vegies, 3 guys from brooklyn on 65th and ft. hamilton- best quality for prices. i used to live in bay ridge for years and moved to sunset park last year and still shop at 3 guys. rocco around the corner has great calamari. there is a cheap vietnamese restaurant on 86th and 4th. mona lisa bakery is on 13th ave (in the 70s-80s?) and on 86th street. and century 21 on 86th btw 4&5th for your household needs.
for carpeting i would use quality carpet on ditmas ave. in kensington, good prices and good quality. for flooring the best in brooklyn is verrazano flooring although they are expensive. for local hardware there is an ace hardware around 80th street and 5th avenue and another larger hardware store in the 70’s on third avenue. a very large hardware place is in dyker heights on 13th avenue in the high seventies. i have been in bay ridge one year. now more importantly for cakes bay ridge bakery is on 79th and 5th. a cake bought here for 15 dollars would be at least double the price at a bakery in park slope and they are superb. a greek bakery/dessert place is on about 76 and third, it has a green neon sign outside and is very good. for ice cream there is a stone cold creamery on 84 and third and a nice coffee place on the same corner. for chinese ,chopstix on 5th between 84/85 is the best. there is no place in park slope remotely close to it and again it is much cheaper. for pizzeria type restaurants bella luna on 10th avenue and 86th street has great chicken and veal parmaginia, and of course is cheap. peppinos for brick oven pizza is slightly pricey but excellent on about 77th and third. ther are many good specialty shops, you need just to explore and the same goes for restaurants. lastly i love my bagel store on third between 88/89. welcome.
