Power Washing
In today’s HOD, someone mentioned power washing the painted facade of a building. Is that something that can be done by a tool rented/bought at HD/Lowe’s, or is this only done by professionals? Any recommendations?

yeshvant is riht but anonymous above 04:06 I don’t understand why repointing before power washing, should make a diference if you use the right stuff and you let it cure properly, so it won’t get damaged by the presure washer don’t you think?
Restoration experts recommend not powerwashing historic brick. I do not know if the same applies to brownstone. Brick begins to crumble since water under pressure removes the outer hard layer.
definitely not $32 k is right!
this might not apply to brownstone, but limestone should be re-pointed before any power washing – water will be forced into the mortar and stain the limestone -I’m living proof of this oversight which is apparently not common knowledge even to my GC or architect.
Be carefull when using pressure because using it the wrong way will remove layers of your facade and you dont want that to happen on a brownstone. And will open up the joints on your brick facade.
Paint removers are very strong quemicals, they could hurt you.
Like everything else a little knowledge is a must.
Be carefull and read the instructions.
It’s definitely not 32K just for a power wash.
Does anyone know how much it costs to re-do the facade of a four story Landmarked brownstone. I heard $32,000 is that high?
better off having a pro do it . only because of height issues
