Vintage Magic Chef 1000 For Sale

Wonderful 1930’a gas range for sale – Magic Chef 1000 (6-burners) – affectionately nicknamed, “Milicent.” Photos are available on line, http://tinyurl.com/ddgan .

Here’s a bit of interesting history provided by my partner, Milicent’s owner:
Milicent is part of the legacy of my most recent project. The Wyse Olin Mansion in Alton, Illinois, came with several historical pieces. The property was constructed between 1860-1865 and is currently about 8,000 ft under roof. It is now renamed “Faith House” and will be a bed and breakfast for ministers. The property was owned for 35 years by John Olin, one of the Olin brothers. The family manufactures brass casings and other specialized chemicals. Indicentally, they also own Winchester(Rifle). Milicent, clearly has not been around all this time. She is a recent additon to the family. She is a Magic Chef Series 1000 and was put into service by the “American Stove Company” , circa 1935. She was given to the previous owner and was in productive use until four years ago. When I began the restoration, I covered her and she has waited patiently for me to complete this effort.

You’ll note from the pictures, that she is in pristine condition.
She has:
1. 6 top burners
2. 2 ovens
3. 1 broiler
4. 1 bread warmer.

Areas that need attention:
1. 5 spots that need to be reenameled by a restoration expert (solid,
not rusted)
2. 1 broken control knob on the front right
3. rewiring of the light fixture.

Other than these things she is in far better condition than ANY 1000 I have seen.
