I’m in a four-story brick walkup coop between 4th and 5th Avenues in Park Slope, and I’ve been charged with getting bids to repoint some of our brick, resurface the front facade, caulk cracks on the side and back, and generally refurbish the exterior of the building. Can anyone on Brownstoner recommend a firm? I’ve tried to call the Progeny Restoration number (what I found on Google, anyway), but nobody picks up. Thanks.

  1. Don’t use Metro. They did a crap job for us. The price quote was low but we found he cut corners and did not do all the work as promised. He said he would come back and finish the things we had a problem with but never did. Even after repeated calls. I have also heard this from my neighbors a few doors down.

  2. Metro Waterproofing did my re-pointing job. They cut brick joints with vacuum equipped grinder to minimize dust. Also use Landmarks approved mortar mix. Call Hasan at 718-521-1435 or 917-731-4388

  3. Cecil King repointed the back wall of our 20ft wide 4-story house last October for $6,500. I found him to be a pleasure to deal with and his team were very hard-working and polite.

  4. We used Aziz Contracting (Aziz Ahmed) after getting about 5 quotes. (one of which was from Malek by the way- who was rude and obnoxious to me too). We were really happy with Aziz’s work. Aziz himself oversees the work by checking in every day, and his nephew does the repointing/refacing with a crew. They did a beatiful job, were very clean, always friendly, and were fine when we asked them to redo the paint on the window frame when we didn’t like the color. Plus they were by far the cheapest of our quotes! I highly recommend them.
