The buzzer system in my apartment building in Park Slope has been broken for a few months now. People can buzz us but the intercom system is dead and we can’t buzz people in. Before it finally went, it had been acting flaky for a while, so not sure if it needs to be fixed or just completely replaced.

Does anyone have a good reference for someone who specializes in this kind of thing?

Thanks,
Carolyn

  1. We’ve had the exact problem and have gotten it fixed. A. Ceriello @ 718-797-3757 have done a great job for us & with other electrical stuff.

  2. My electronic strike stopped working after a run in with the fire department. I could still talk to people over the intercom and they could talk to me, I just couldn’t buzz them in. A locksmith looked at it, but told me I needed to reinforce the door frame first (seperate problem) the end result- I put in a new electronic strike myself. It cost forty dollars, took about 5 minutes. It involved conecting two wires. Make sure it turn off your breaker ( it is feed by electricity) That solved the problem.

  3. I had the same problem a couple of months ago and called a locksmith. The better/bigger locksmiths typically have someone who deals with intercoms. Apparently one of the wires was no longer making contact with the button. It was a very easy fix, took less than half an hour and cost about $150.

  4. have you talked to an electrician or a locksmith? i had problem hearing my buzzer and the locksmith i talked to said it may be electrical or the electric strike. if it’s the electric strike the locksmith can take care of it or you may need an electrician if it’s just the buzzer and not the door.
