I’m looking to have flat screen hung on the wall, as well as have all the necessary wiring run out of sight and all that. Anybody have experience with anyone who has done this kind of work? Mostly, I’m interested in someone who is familiar with the delicate qualities of hundred year old plaster walls, but also can do a nice neat A/V wiring job. Thanks.
Costco has a company on its website that does installations.
Anon – can you post or email me the information you get I am also looking for someone. Thanks
I saw a very cool thing on the Bed-Stuy house tour. A homeowner had a wood frame created for her flat-screen TV that was basically an extension of the wood fireplace mantel. It almost perfectly matched the original oak and — because the TV had a mirror finish when switched off (I’d love to know who makes that kind) it looked just like an over-mantel mirror. A great combination of high-tech and being sensitive to the original features of a brownstone.
We just used a fellow named Steve that we got on Craigslist. He posts most every day in Craigslist. He lives in Park Slope and did a great job hanging our 32 inch flat screen breaking thru our plaster wall to hide the wires. There’s a major vacuuming invloved after the install but it looks fantastic.
