Paint Color Suggestions
Brownstoners, please help a finicky fellow brownstoner with paint color/brand suggestions: an ideal, not too yellowy off-white for a parlor floor in particular. Recommendations for bedroom-appropriate glowy greens would also be much appreciated! Indeed, I’d really consider any great paint finds, if anyone’s willing to share. Best regards and many thanks.

Thank you for all the suggestions!
Behr paint at Home Depot is kind of crappy, as is the Ralph Lauren stuff they sell..
Coverage with Benjamin Moore is excellent, and it’s what all the contractors work with. Janovic’s mixing thing is super cool (they don’t have the formula for the fabulous Farrow & Ball colors however) OR if you like off-the-rack BenjMoore, there’s an excellent family run paint/contractor store on MacDonald Ave called Paints By George. These guys are incredibly knowledgable and friendly and the prices are right on.
Semi or Gloss on moldings for sure. Eggshell or semi for bathrooms and kitchen. Like another poster said, don’t be afraid of a little color or something different — you can always repaint it!
Linen White by BM is very standard warm white. Great for ceilings.
Be brave and try B. Moore OC-91 Ivory Tusk.
Gives you little more color.
MY personal favorite for any room is B. Moore
November Rain (green/blue/glowing/pastel)
All above go well with White Chocolate by Moore
trim (use Satin or Semi-gloss). Pure white is too stark.
I choose colors for many clients and the rule #1
is do not be afraid and get samples. Each color
looks different on each wall in the same room.
Play and have fun.
Have you looked at any of the C2 colors? They have some nice greens I would describe as “glowy”–if I recall, Artichoke, Peppermint and Spearmint might fit this bill (all slightly blue tones). They have huge real paint samples (poster-sized) for about six dollars, which are really useful.
We used Benjamin MOore super white for the trim
AN ARMY GREEN SHOULD SET IT OFF JUST RIGHT JUST KIDDING. BEHR AT HOME DEPOT HAS ONE CALLED VICTORIAN LACE THAT GOES WELL IN ANY ROOM.
Take a trip to Janovic Plaza in Manhattan (there are 10 of them). They have approximately 12,000 color chips, and can cross-mix any brand to Benjamin-Moore. They’re fair-priced, and will mix it right. Ask for advice…they’re well trained.
We painted our bedroom Benj Moore ‘Cloud Nine’ – a VERY subtle yellowy-green tinted white.
I’ve had great success with Montgomery White by Benj. Moore. It’s got a fairly yellow quality but reacts to natural light beautifully.
