Negative Review: Ricardo's Iron Works/Piccolo

Do NOT use these people. They were recommended by the contractor I was using for my stoop and they did a very sloppy job refinishing our iron handrail and fence/gate. They got paint from the iron on our brand new stoop AND they didn’t sweep up after they drilled the iron into our stoop. We have red dust all over our sidewalk and it is NOT coming out.
The lucky part is we only paid them 25% and will not pay them anymore until they fix their work. When we told him we weren’t paying him, he said he was going to talk to another contractor about fixing the sidewalk and the paint… that was 5 weeks ago. We haven’t heard from him since….
The comment from August 12, 2005 is false. I know the customer she is not a credible source. She is exaggerating the story. I am well aware of her going back to Ricardo to finish the job. She also does not pay on time and that is why the job was not finished. I had the pleasure of doing business with Ricardo. I paid him on time therefore I had everything done properly. These people that complain are usually the clients that do not pay on time. Go to consumer affairs or BBB to get REAL complaints IF THERE ARE ANY.
I have had the pleasure of doing business with Ricardo from Ricardo’s/Picollo’s iron works. He was very professional and straightforward. His workers were very tidy after they finished the iron railing on my brown stown in Park Slope. I reccommend doing business with this company. They are up and growing. Ricardo treats his clients great including myself!
I have seen this kind of work done on many occasions. Sure they can fabricate and weld good enough but they can’t install worth a crap. I did a job where we had just finished enlarging a door way…installed a new low-e very high-end door..$6,000 and a month later the customer called us back because the ironworker had installed a gate improperly. They must have measured wrong and when the gate was too big began chopping away at the door’s casings instead of redoing his gate. Also they all subscribe to the Pollack Abstract Expressionist School of Painting. Make sure he doesn’t try to put a lien on your property for the unpaid bill. Good thing he did’t crack your stoop with their ham-handed hammerdrill. You really have to watch them the whole time
