Gas vs. Electric Dryers
What’s the lowdown these days on gas vs. electric dryers? We are installing a washer-dryer next to our bathroom which is not very near a gas-line or an exhaust-option. What’s the lowdown these days on gas vs. electric dryers? We are installing a washer-dryer next to our bathroom which is not very near a gas-line or an exhaust-option. We will most likely find a way to exhaust the dryer, but I’m wondering, what is the current thinking on gas vs. electric dryers? I have been told that gas dryers are WAY more efficient and clean. How much “way more”? I assume that the prices both mfor the units and their installation widely vary too… Suggestions??
Thanks.
gas
the machine must be level i wouldnt put any front loader in an unstable structure or weak floors there is some vibration u have to remember be cause it doesnt apply heat it takes longer for condensate system to dry clothes it takes about three hours to do a load but you set it and forget it the machine size is large capacity we are a family of five here this machine requires no venting and uses a 110 line for power it is a super high efficiency
Dave is that LG you got noisy or shaky ? We are thinking about installing a few for our 3 family home in the basement. Does it do large loads? I was trying to read up on it in Consumer Reports. Would love to hear more about your experience with it. Maybe if you or your wife post here, we won’t bug via email.

We have gas for ourselves, and one electric dryer in one of our rentals. The gas MUST be vented to outdoors, and is considerably less expensive to operate. While you don’t have to vent electric dryers, it’s really advisable, otherwise you throw a lot of excess lint and heat into the living space.
we have a gas dryer in our washroom, and it does help to have a front loader as sba said. ours does a good job or getting the clothes as dry as possible before we put it in the dryer.
our dryer is vented out of the nearby window, not very attractive, but it does the job.
We went with gas because we only have 60 amps of elec running into our house and were worried that the dryer might overload the system. The gas dryer is terrific.
I just bought my wife an all in 1 by lg . It doesnt use heat to dry it uses condensor . No 220 line ,low water use ,high efficiency for electric use also . email if u want more info
The washer that we have (front loading Bosch) spins the clothes so much that they come out practically dry, so dry time (in our electric dryer)is cut way back. I don’t have any figures on our electric bill, but it doesn’t seem crazy high.
