I just got a roofing quotation from Greene Roofing – anyone used them? In terms of roofing product, they advised installing “SBS White Granulated Asphalt Membrane using trowled grade modified adhesive”…is this what most others are using/recommending??

Thanks for any assistance

  1. Don’t go with Greene. They messed up a terrace/roof of mine with result that when it rains it pours…inside the apartment below. We’re still getting to the bottom of this but Greene has been pretty unhelpful. Part of the problem was the tar they used clogged up the drain on the terrace, reducing its circumference by half. I wouldn’t use them again.

  2. We solicited quotes from 6 different companies to do our sloped shingle roof in Ditmas Park. Greene came back in the exact middle between the high and low bids and since they are literally 2 blocks from the site, offered a 7 year transferable warranty and had good notices from the many residents that have used them in past, we went with them. Other than the lack of a phone call before they showed up to start the job and a small post-job clean-up issue, they were professional, their work was quality and we are generally pleased.

I’d be very curious to hear even the slightest details of any situation that would warrant such a blanket dismissal of the abilities of this company that has been in business for many years, has had zero unresolved BBB complaints and that comes highly recommended from many other clients in my neighbourhood.

  3. We just got an email from a reader who had an EXTREMELY BAD experience with Greene. So bad that the person does not want to reveal a single detail for fear of retaliation. We’ve heard the details and can only say that there is no way in the world we would use this company.

  4. I remember getting a quote from Green a few years back on a patch-up job. Nice folks, but went in another direction. Looks like you’re getting a standard flat roofing job, rolled asphalt with a granular coating, sealed with standard roofing cement.
Another co. you might want to try is Big Apple Roofing at 718-246-5581 321 Douglass St 11217

  5. when I lived in a co-op, our management agency used them. So they are big-time.
This guy did good work for me:
    Ahmed (Saga Contracting) – 646-739-6141.
He can do roofs, chimneys, exteriors, etc., and the work was good for a great price.

  6. Greene Roofing did my roof a few years back. No complaints here.
Not that I ever look at it or anything . . . but they did the job when they said they would, and cleaned up after themselves.
