REPLACING WINDOWS
Looking to replace my original windows – and I’m just outside a landmarked district in the Slope so no special vetting. Any recent experiences to share? I’m doing those long thin parlor windows, among others. I used LWP (Lucky Window Products) 10 years ago for the first round of replacements…in the back of the house,…
Looking to replace my original windows – and I’m just outside a landmarked district in the Slope so no special vetting. Any recent experiences to share? I used LWP (Lucky Window Products) 10 years ago for the first round of replacements…in the back of the house, standard small windows, and they were fine.
THANK YOU
Go look at Windows post down below on May 20th. Lots of feedback.
There was actually a long back and forth on windows here two weeks ago — is it possible to access the archives? Great things to say about Dykes Lumber, thumbs down on Park Slope Glass (maybe they’re just too busy, but that translated to sloppiness in our case), thumbs WAY down on Air Flo windows…but if you’re not in a Landmarked district, can’t you just get an insulated/Low E window from Lowes/Home Depot/Pella to save money?
Thanks for the tip!
LWP and Dykes Lumber have both been recommended elsewhere…any experiences recounted appreciated.
You are so lucky to be outside of the Landmarked district. We are just inside our district and have been through the wringer with the whole windows application process. Even though you don’t have to buy Landmark level windows, be sure to get ‘low E’, the energy efficiency is remarkable. The difference is really noticeable, way warmer in the winter, energy bills about 25% lower supposedly.
