I’m looking for a solution…I have a parlor floor window that we use to get to a backyard deck. I want to keep my nice big kitchen window (86″ x 30″) with it’s beautiful stripped original moldings while making it easier to get to the deck. I don’t want to put in a door! Anyone have Marvin Tilt’n’Turn windows? They supposedly open like a door OR a window. I’ve looked at them on the Marvin website, but it’s not very satisfying. Dykes Lumber does not have one on display and they say they don’t sell many. I don’t really care what brand it is, and I am outside of the landmarked district. Plus it’s for the back. Thank you!

  1. call ez tilt windows and they can guide you. big installers of marvins and they specialize in historic buildings.

they are listed in manhattan and brooklyn.

  2. i know you want to keep your moldings- our solution was to dismantle the molding keep them intact and put a french door with transom above then reinstall the original moldings- in our case we had to lose a window in the kitchen design but we never miss it. when we come down in the morning the walls seems mostly of glass- we were dealing with a 22 foot wide back. it actually looks really amazing and fits in the room very smoothly, as if it belongs
