Has anyone had experience with Pella windows? I set up an appointment for an estimate through the Pella website and met with a representative from one of their dealers, the Robert Hunt Company, which based in Elmhurst, NY. After receiving the estimate for windows (from the Architect Series, approved for landmark districts) I asked the Robert Hunt representative for references from a couple of his recent clients. He told me that Pella does not allow him to give out the names of former clients for privacy reasons. Installing a houseful of new windows comes to a lot of money to spend without a reference, and so I am wondering if anyone else has had these windows installed, particularly with this contractor?
Be advised I installed Pella windows in my new home. It has been 4 years now. Every winter we have to go around and wipe the sweat off twice a day. If not the windows get a BLACK MOLD all over the casing of the window. Also I installed a $1500.00 Pella bay window that molds also. I installed a Crestline slider it dose not sweat or mold . I would Never recomend installing PELLA PRODUCTS cause they do not back their warranty .DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON PELLA !!!!!!!!!!!
After you do your search for Pella windows type in rot. Watch the pages roll in. They have a class action suit being filed and possibly others. Do NOT waste your money on Pella windows.
If you do you will regret it.
Knows from experience.
Are any of you installing on a landmark block? Are the Pella landmark compliant?
2-3k per window including labor.
What sort of price are you looking at to replace big brownstone windows with these companies?
Thanks
I too will be using Pella windows for a brownstone project I’m working on. Started out looking at Marvin, the NY dealer was very friendly and spent a lot of time explaining the ins and outs of the window replacement process. Ultimately, Marvin costs about 40-50% more than Pella, and supposedly, the latter’s reputation for workmanship, etc is pretty high. I’ve seen Pella windows in a lot of brownstones in the Village, and they look like they were properly installed and whatnots. Pella does provide 2-yr guaranty on their product and labor, so that should mitigate the risks somewhat. My Pella dealer is on W. 18th St, and they also have an office there with products to see. You shouldn’t have problems asking them for references.
