220V outlet for european washer/dryers

does anyone here have a european washer/dryer like bosch, asko or miele? did you happen to have to install a 220V outlet for this setup to work? i’m trying to see how expensive it is to add a 220 to the usual 110 voltage.

  3. i have a miele washer and dryer (W1213 and T1403) that is stacked that plugs into a kit (purchased separately from miele usa) that breaks a standard 220 v / 30 watts into 15 amps each. Therefore you do need to have a 220 v line which is fairly standard for a washer in the US, and I would think that your condo should be built with one of these already in the W/D area.

  4. ok then .. then it should not cost you anything more scince there gonna put a 110 v recptical there anyway . tell them you want it to be 220v . but u must specify that you need it to be 30 amps

  5. electricgreek: yes, i am buying a european washer/dryer that plugs into a 220v. since this is a new condo and i am asking for this in advance, i would expect it to be less than if all the walls, electricals were completed and i asked an electrician to add a 220v.

  6. wait a minute.. i misunderstood. i thought u bought a model from europe , my bad. the washer/dryer 220v units are 30 amps. there require a seprate line from your electrical panel . your looking at $350 – $400 for the line.

  7. whoa .. hold on there.. 220v in the U.S is 2 hot wires 100v each . the 220v in europe is 1 hot and 1 neutral wire . do not ,i repeat DO NOT . plug this unit into any 220v outlet .

  8. This processs if I’m not mistaken is the addition of 1 more hot wire. Depending on the situation, an electrician should charge between 100 – 175 for the line.
