1572444.jpgThe Vue, at 162 16th Street in the South Slope, may have great vistas of the outdoors, but it seems the insides aren’t quite measuring up. The IMBY blog reports that complaints have been filed in reference to Issac Katan’s Radusky-designed 10-story building: rainwater is seeping into the units, causing water damage (it has since been resolved, per the DOB). Despite a history of troubles at the building, and the mishmash reps of its developer and architect, it seems to have sold reasonably well. Streeteasy shows 12 previously recorded sales, and AH shows one unit in contract and six more available, including a $799,000 three-bedroom and a $540,000 one-bed.

  1. I live at the Vue and although there have definitely been problems, we could not be happier with our apartment or our decision to live here. We’ve had absolutely no problems with our unit. I have several friends that have also bought in new developments (Williamsburg, Cobble Hill and BK Heights) and unfortunately it seems that these issues tend to come along with these new constructions. That being said, we looked at 30 (yes 30!) apartments in the surrounding area and most of what we saw was run down, falling apart, outdated and not worth the $$. Every single person that we’ve had over to our apartment comments on how beautiful and light it is. On top of that, there are the NICEST people in the building…all young, working families. I am really glad that my child is going to grow up amongst such wonderful people. Our block could use some help but the neighborhood as a whole is up and coming and has several wonderful mom and pop shops!

I wonder if the last writer (“The VUE did a really good job with the quality – from the flooring to the sound proofing to the appliances.”) is one of people who is now complaining about the building.
Like I said previously – I have no sympathy for anyone who can be so arrogant as to think that the neighbors (and not the criminals who sold them the crap) are the enemy.
Get over it – You’ve been had by known criminals and now you need to start being less arrogant and more open to the sad truth.
What matters is that the truth is being said and not any elitist beliefs about who is saying it .

  3. Those people are so screwed.
But you know what – I don’t feel sorry for them.
They bought in blindly and did not heed all the warning.
Even after they bought in – the signs were all around.
After all that has been printed about that building and the developer’s treatment of the neighbors, all they had to do was ask anyone on the street and I am quite sure they would have been told to “get out while you still have your pants on”.
This situation proves that they either – never asked (shame on you) or were too arrogant to listen to the folks who were trying protect them from themselves.
Either way they have only themselves to blame and as long as they stay in bed with the people (DOB and the development team) who perpetrated this lie, they will continue to be screwed.
The way I see it – they, collectively, spent many millions on worthless property.
Property that will most assuredly end up costing them many millions more over time.
Why not put all that money together and sue the DOB and the developer (I’d even add the Realtor – Aguayo & Huebener) for Fraud.
But the first step to any recovery will be their admission that they were idiots to begin with.
    By The Way –
Isn’t it nice to know that the violations were cleared based on the assurances of the development team.
That is the reason that everything about this building is illegal.
The assurances of a developer and architect who are established liars and the continued culpability of the DOB.
Anyway – Winter is coming and this is only the beginning.
I can’t wait for the next round of stupididy.
Anyone else who is thinking of buying into a Katan, Katz, Radusky (might as well add Boymelgreen – Katan’s partner & Cousin) building should do beware.
