It’s been 40 years since the first home tour offered tantalizing glimpses inside the domestic architecture of Bed Stuy and there’s no sign of the interest abating.

If you’ve got the urge to drool over Brooklyn architecture and interiors you can now grab tickets for the 40th Annual Bed Stuy House Tour on Saturday, October 20. The self-guided walking tour, one of the largest house tours in the borough, is sponsored by local organization Brownstoners of Bed Stuy to raise awareness about homeownership and neighborhood history as well as to raise funds for scholarships.

The tour day starts with a free homeownership workshop from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and is followed by a bazaar with local vendors and artists from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both events take place at the Boys and Girls High School at 1700 Fulton Street in Bed Stuy, which is also the starting part for the tour.

The house tour itself begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. The list of participating houses hasn’t been revealed, so to find out what architectural delights you will be able to glimpse you will need to present a ticket at the starting point and receive the tour brochure. The brochure is required for entry into each of the homes on the tour.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the tour. You can purchase tickets online here or in person at local spots Peace & Riot at 401 Tompkins Avenue, Bed-Vyne Wine at 370 Tompkins or Kafe Louverture at 392 Halsey Street. On the day of the tour you will need to purchase tickets at Boys and Girls High School — tickets are limited so you may want to snap yours up ahead of time.

The tour caps the yearly Bed Stuy Alive festival, a celebration of the neighborhood that kicks off on Saturday, October 13. For more information on the activities during the festival, click here.
