loralei-1209.jpgThis is pretty cool: Brokelyn has put together a list of the best Bed & Breakfasts in the borough; given the blog’s skin-flinty focus, only places that charge less than $150 a night were in the running. A few highlights include Loralei on Argyle Road and Carroll Gardens’ Inn on Second. Check out the complete list and let us know if you think they’ve left anything out.

  1. QUOTE “because it’s illegal to run them out of your home”

You’re correct that what is in essence a commercial hotel is not permitted in any residence district. However, the city seems willing to look the other way (and even promote these places in their tourist info) as long as the innkeeper reports the income.

It seems like at least half my neighbors are now operating these places. What else are you going to do with all that space once the kids leave home?

  2. There are two in Brooklyn Heights that I know of but that info is always whispered — because it’s illegal to run them out of your home I was told. I don’t know if that’s true, but I’ll err on the side of caution and not post info. Besides, I like that there’s usually availability when the in-laws are in town.
