277 19th Street Out in the Open
It’s hasn’t been long since we last looked at the ‘fortress’ rising at 277 19th Street. Since April, though, all the netting has been removed, revealing what was once the space for a small frame house. Since April, though, all the netting has been removed, revealing what was once the space for a small frame house. This Natalya Donskoy design (a former Scarano employee who is also responsible for this) is to be a nine-family residency. We called it a doozie then and we’ll call it a doozie now.

It is obvious that these builders do not care about the integrity of a neighborhood. Everything looks hodge-podge.
such a shame.
> Where is the imagination, care, and thought in building design today?
The City building code prohibits those until the $700-800/sf price point.
I think the worst part about seeing uncreative, uncharming buildings like this (probably took all but a few seconds to design” is the outragously high anticipated pricing to live here. If I’m paying $500+sqft, why the hell would I want to live in a building that is as generic as the likely fixtures inside? Where is the imagination, care, and though in building design today?
And 19th St. has the same developer…
I cannot believe the balcony pillars are not deemed structural, thus violating the ZR…besides being ugly as hell
But I’m sure benson will consider this a diamond in the rough.
doesn’t 19th have the crazy goth house?
Fugly?
Yes.
Best looking thing on that block?
Yes.
As you can see from the thread yesterday and today, 19th Street is full of gems.
fugladoozie, that is.
