Wine Shop for Halsey and Nostrand
A tipster sent in this photo of a wine shop moving into 506 Nostrand called Breukelen Cellars. Looks really nice! As they noted, that strip is “sadly lacking” in any sort of wine store, so this should be good news for the neighborhood. GMAP

@rf I have also been to the plexiglass shops and been waved over to bottles of Beringer as their only selection. It’s just cool to have options. They have more signage up but aren’t yet open.
RHI did not know about all these developments right around the corner from my abode. i am so psyched!!!! thanks for making my day
Looks like only wine. They setup a FB group:

I remember when the Slope had plexi liquor shops. I thought I was special because the guy would let me behind the partition. The 90’s.
I went into a liquor store on Flatbush and asked for Boxed wine. The Asian guy came back with four “glass” bottles of wine in a box. lmao
I explained that i was going to the Park and couldn’t have glass containers and needed the wine that comes in a carton or plastic bag inside a carton. He just said “we no have” and went back to reading. So off to the Slope i went again.
Once I went into the liquor store on Tompkins between Hancock and Halsey. I asked the guy behind the plexiglass what kind of wine he had. He went into the back and came back with 2 bottles and said, “this here’s the red and this here’s the white.”
there’s a certain charm to plexi glassed liquor stores.
okay fine i guess i guess they dont sell expensive wines. shrug. i feel like wine all tastes the same anyway.
*rob*
Michael, great.
rob, actually red white and bubbly probably the best wine store in Brooklyn, altho that’s still not saying much.
