10th Annual Siren Music Festival

The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located not only at the former bank at One Hanson, but also at the Fort Greene market. On Saturdays, the market will be located at the Fort Greene location and on Sundays you can find the market at One Hanson which is located at the clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. The 63rd Annual Macy’s Fishing Contest
The R.H. Macy’s Fishing Contest has been an annual event in Prospect Park since 1947. A rite of passage for tens of thousands of Brooklyn kids over the years, the contest runs for a week each July and is held lakeside at the Peninsula. The event is open to kids 15 years old or under. Equipment is provided free of charge or participants can bring their own! All fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis; fish must be returned to the Lake alive. Friday – Sunday, July 16 – 18. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Free. Park Drive & Wellhouse Drive shoreline.

Dog Days of Summer
The ASPCA® is bringing all five Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinics to the Brooklyn Public Library on Saturday, July 17 for a Block Party to increase awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering New York City’s pets. The day-long event offers FREE pet services for the community and entertainment provided by Brooklyn-based musical artists Maiysha—2009 Grammy-nominated singer of the critically acclaimed debut album This Much Is True—and Bedford-Stuyvesant’s own Tuan X and local DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry. Kayaking and Community Rowing
Get out on the water for kayaking and community rowing with the Gowanus Dredgers and the Village Community Boathouse. There is no need to sign up in advance; boating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No training or prior experience is needed. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet, and shoes or sandals suitable for walking on a rocky beach. The only requirement is that you know how to swim. All equipment is provided free.
