Movies with a View: The Big Lebowski
Movies With A View is one of the city’s premiere outdoor film series with an eclectic lineup of films and breathtaking views of the NYC waterfront. This week, Movies with a View will be screening The Big Lebowski. Thursday, July 22. 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. Movie at sunset. Free. Pier 1, DUMBO.
Community Design Workshop
NYCEDC is hosting a series of collaborative workshops in 2010 to develop a vision for improving the pedestrian environment along the BQE, between Atlantic and Hamilton Avenues. The BQE Enhancement project is a joint effort between the City and the community and, in May, designers solicited advice, input and local experience for this section of the BQE. The second workshop will be held this Tuesday. All are welcome to attend. Census Hearing
Rep. Edolphus Ed Towns (D-NY, NY-10), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will hold a hearing this Monday to examine a recent incident involving two senior managers at the Brooklyn North East Local Census Office who were fired for fraudulently completing census surveys. The hearing, that will feature testimony from the Census Director, the New York Regional Census Director and the Commerce Department Inspector General, will also examine the steps the Census Bureau is taking to ensure the accuracy of the 2010 count. Summer Starz 2010
Town Square, EDGE, and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are hosting the 6th Annual Summerstarz 2010 at the East River State Park. Each Thursday starts with a Kids’ Hour with activities, then a live act, followed by a movie. This week there will be the New York Road Runners for the Kids’ Hour, The Backroad for the live act, and Night at the Museum for the movie. All are welcome! Thursday, July 22. 6 p.m. Free. The Green Team
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Green Team of volunteer stewards have returned to the Main Street section of Brooklyn Bridge Park for the 2010 season. Green Team members donate thousands of hours to provide critical care for the much-used park located at Main and Plymouth Streets. Be one of the many to help out with the Conservancy’s environment.
