I like their coffee and their graphic design… I was pissed off about their treatment of their staff, but was willing to give them a second “hey we learned our lesson and won’t be such jerks” chance.
However, the combination of this bitter angry BS and the fact that they just downsized their bags of beans to 12oz from their touted 16oz (same price, I just have to schlep over there more often and toss out more packaging) means I’m looking for a new roaster.
I predict this pettiness will hurt them at least as much as the initial fracas. So deeply lame.
I saw Darleen in the store this morning; she looked haggard and 10 years older than in that picture. but she was wearing the same pants.
Agree with you about Stephen Solarz, Bob Marvin. Don’t know all about his politics but had a chance to speak with him once. He was a gracious gentleman. I’ll read more about him now; he was only 70 years old at his passing, too young.
I used to like their coffee but not their graphic design. Now I hate both. With all this obsessive rage they’re proving everything their employees said about them.
Gorilla’s coffee (as served in the shop) is nasty.
Great graphic design on their products though.
I was sorry to read about Steven Solarz; he was one of the good guys!
That FIPS post is a little psycho, but kinda true. I spoke with Verizon over the summer and they told me some parts of PH/CH along Eastern Parkway are wired, but they’re having a hard time getting into the larger buildings to install the equipment to justify the cost of expanding further in PH/CH.
On its best day Gorilla’s product is not better than Starbucks; Brooklyn is inundated with superlative coffee so Gorilla is just an alternative to the corner bodega.
Ignoring the fact that the pawn shop mural is in bad taste, the artist is actually pretty talented!
