    A couple of comments about doing this type of work (which I have done dozens of times successfully as an homeowner with a REALLY old house): I would put newspaper down on the floor first so you don’t smear the inevitable muck into the grout and everywhere else; I would wear disposable gloves; I would start with a hand snake (non-electric) because although it’s hard work, the power drill snakes can easily break old cast iron waste line. start w/ a hand snake and see if you can pull the clog out that way; Guys like Tony who do this everyday have a nuanced and controlled touch w/ power equipment that the average joe doesn’t have…
