MM – I agree that Skillman’s flip comment is too cavalier, but I am sorry you will be unable to find another regular parade that has consistent deadly violence surrounding it like the WI Day parade. This isn’t to blame “them” or anything like that – but denying a demonstrable problem doesn’t help anyone.
There were shooting in 07, 06, 05, and 03 (and prior). A couple of those shootings ended in death. There have been stabbings and other violent acts as well. I hardly think that there have been 3 years without a shooting as a major victory, nor is it explainable as a normal NYC parade, where a million people get together in a small space and there is inevitable violence.
The regularity of deadly violence is unique to the WI Day parade and is a major problem; it cannot be denied and it must be addressed honestly and solved.
