My aunt lived on University Place, and her windows faced the NYU dormitory courtyard. Noisy all the time. Students are students. But the university should also hold them responsible for bad behavior. It’s a city- bad neighbors can make your life hell.
Re, Henry St. “Animal House”, I remember when this was converted into student housing and how glad I was. I lived in the North Heights and the previous residents of this space — late ’80s and onward — was the HRA and SRO housing. That was when AIDS was raging and there were many people with AIDS dying in that hotel and plenty of drug dealers around to sell stuff to IV and crack users who had contracted AIDS. Not pretty. It is too bad that the students were being idiots but compared to what was there before, innocuous.
Interesting story also about the foreclosed brownstone. How scary for the neighbors.
