Benson, I crack up every time I pass Rheingold Gardens and see that sign as if “Thank you Vito Lopez” is the name of the building.
Like I said a few days ago though i’m starting to think Lopez’s machine (jobs, health care, and housing to Bushwick residents) is better than the alternative (favors and pork to corporations). He seems to be uber-powerful on housing. He’s the one who rolled back rent decontrol.
In other somewhat politically unrelated news, NYC residential lis pendens spike 38% MOM. Prolly just estate fights, right?
***Bid half off peak comps***
Warren Cohn, one of the candidates in a recount for 50th AD county committee, is a Vito Lopez crony. He’s only 23! Hope Reischbach, who Vito ran in Joan Millman’s AD, is only 21! Vito should be arrested for child abuse, too.

Christie 2012
real change. real fast.
And no I don’t think Cuomo will shake up Albany. I think the status quo will reign there for some time. And I am not happy about that. Just realistic.
I am certainly not going to relax. It is still a near lock that the house will switch party control. I am merely relieved (and highly mystified) by the fact that Delaware will remain in Dem hands and thus the senate won’t switch. If you care to try to spin O’Donnell’s victory in the DE Republican primary as a good thing I would certainly be interested.
In re NY Gov neither Paladino nor Lazio would have any hope of beating Cuomo anyway so that race is less mystifying to me. The A team on the Republican side chose not to show.
Inflicting Paladino and Silver on each other does seem appealing… for one day; I’m afraid that would be cutting off my nose to spite my face. I don’t trust either to actually manage the state properly, not that Andrew sit-on-my-duff Cuomo has any appeal either. Sigh.
Talk is cheap. And Paladino can shoot off at the mouth all he wants and tell some people what they want to hear….
but truth is he is more entrenched and beneficiary of the status quo than just about anyone else.
It is all an act.
banning smoking outside is insane and unenforcable anyway.
