190 Dean Street, at Bond, has seen a lot of action in the past few months. First the building underwent a big interior reno. Then plans were announced for a ground-floor Northern Italian restaurant, although the liquor license request was tabled by CB2 in November. Eater has now unearthed more details about the restaurant, Rucola, which should be open sometime in March. It will be managed by a former Prime Meats bartender, who hopes to expand the restaurant to include a bag lunch program for kids, a rooftop herb garden, a farm, and a CSA-style farm share. You can read more about the restaurant here and more about the farm share here. The food will feature seasonal salads, pastas, and vegetarian dishes.

  1. Was really excited to hear about Dean Street and went the same day. There is some tweeking that needs to be done as with every new restaurant but everything I tried was really good. Welcome to Brooklyn Nate Smith! I’m glad I get to try your food in a more relaxed environment without people bumping into me and my table.

  2. And p.s. If you haven’t been to the new place which took over the space of Tavern on Dean called Dean Street, I’d go if I were you. It was opened last week by the former chef of Spotted Pig in Manhattan and it’s delicious. The space is beautiful and it’s been packed since night 1.

Go try it. And The Vanderbilt has made some nice additions to their menu as well.

  3. This is pretty big (restaurant related) news, btw. And the fact that there are only 3 comments is a good example of why Williamsburg (and not Brownstone Brooklyn) gets most of the great restaurants. People in Brownstone Brooklyn are so NOT foodies, even though they pretend to be.

This is being opened by formers at Prime Meats, Cafe Boulud and Death and Co. Those are important places in the NYC food and beverage industry.

Should be well worth checking out, is what I’m trying to say.
