We’ve received several emails in the last few days from readers wondering what’s going on at the old L’Epicerie space at 270 Vanderbilt Avenue in Fort Greene. We’ve gotten reports of workers going in and out since the end of last week. There’s a Certificate of No Effect from the Landmarks Preservation Commission in the window and an approved DOB permit online, but neither of them give any clue to what the next incarnation of the space will be, other than that there will be no change of use. Heck, we even tried calling the building owner, Danny Browne, but didn’t get a call back. So who’s got the goods on this? GMAP P*Shark DOB

  1. and what about cellars across the street? 2 prime pieces of commercial space totally wasted for years. i’ve never seen cellars open, and L’Epicerie had such weird hours i never really considered them open for business.
