Behold: The old Bagel Delight space on 7th Avenue and 4th Street, which has been under construction for awhile, now has full signage up. Called Park Slope Eatery, it looks the ‘artisan bread cafe’ will be opening in the not so distant future. Excited?

  1. @ch_renter that is the funniest thing i have ever read. could not stop laughing.

the food’s pretty good. it’s a pretty standard diner. they just don’t seem to be content with being a diner, instead of a restaurant.

it’s such a pitifully bizzare place (“artisan” bread and “manhatten” clam chowder), and obviously the owners aren’t familiar with the neighborhood, but it must be nice for the hospital people, and it fills the void of the greek diner that closed last year (not la bagel but the place on the other end of the block).

and it’s MUCH better than that horrible purity diner.

  2. That may be true, fu but the hospital isn’t going anywhere.

There are plenty more blocks on 5th, north end of 7th, south end of 7th and all over the place to have cutesy boutique shops which come and go with the wind.

It’s a big, long, narrow neighborhood. There’s room for a few of these type places to support the hundreds and hundreds of 24 hour workers at the hospital, don’t ya think? Shouldn’t they be able to have a few options to eat something other than a 5 guys burger while they work 30 sometimes 30 hour shifts trying to save peoples lives?

  3. Hospital crowd? I hope more business owners DON’T “get smarter about tapping in”. The hospital creates this retail deadzone between 8th St. and 4th St. on 7th and 8th, as well as the side streets. A bunch of featureless places to get bad coffee during your night shift.

  4. Lookin’ good. Will most certainly be a hit with the hospital crowd.

Always been surprised that more business owners haven’t been smarter about tapping into the hospital crowd in this part of the Slope…

They should do well. Besides Bagel Delight, subway and pizza, there isn’t much else around to grab a quick lunch or dinner.

Signage looks nice. I heard they may have tables outside as well.
