That certainly CAN be true, DH. And when two women don’t like one another in the workplace it comes out in ways that wouldn’t happen between men and women (i.e. women can get bitchy) but women also often have a more collaberative approach, try to build teams. I had one woman boss who was a petty tyrant – God, she was terrible. And then there was another… I am thinking that one of the best people I worked for was a woman. She was the CFO of an energy trading co. I got her in a meeting once after a meeting with the President of our company. She completely glossed over everything I was working on that we needed to discuss and I lost a big opportunity to make my case for something. When I angrily said something later, she suddenly and passionately
BURST INTO TEARS.
crying about how hard it had been for her with XYZ, etc. We would up apologizing to one another for being difficult and I had the jim dandiest relationship with her from that moment on.
“DH- I don’t remember that. But having worked for both men and women I think not being your own boss is a bitch. But yes- women can be very harsh critics.Men jsut as much.”
yeah – no doubt. i’m an equally opportunity authority figure hater.

I’m back in NY. The Supercomputer conference was phenomenal. I attended a lecture by one of the top minds at IBM. He gave a speech about the next wave of growth in the US, the reorganization of our economy and what we must do to meet these challenges. The audience broke into wild applause after he was done, it was so inspirational. I left the speech charged up, ready to kick butt.
I’ll explain the contents of his speech next week.
In my experience, women are the biggest critics of other women in the workplace. Several women (my dear mother included) say it’s a nightmare to work for one.
I will refrain judgment, as bxgrl is looming and last time I made a comment like that, she called me names 😉
Late 70’s. Yeah- I didn’t know what to think, and he was rather a scary guy. He’d also made a pass at me in a bar.
What year was that???
Wow, Bxgrl, that had to be pretty terrible.
Worst male boss I had fired me for being seen with a Black man (the guy I eventually married). Boss was Italian. Called me a whore.
